Mary Ann DeChiara

Mary Ann DeChiara, a New York City native, 87, passed away on June 8, 2024, in Margate, FL, where she had lived for more than 10 years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Nathan DeChiara, who passed away in 2006 when they were residing in Holly Springs, NC. Mrs. DeChiara, who was born in Bronx, NY, in 1937, graduated from the all-girls college prep Roman Catholic Cathedral High School in Manhattan. After their marriage in 1959, Mr. and Mrs. DeChiara started their family in the Bronx and then moved to Peekskill, NY, in Westchester County, NY. Later in life, they moved to Rockland County, NY, where Mrs. DeChiara worked at Orange & Rockland Utilities (O&R) in customer service for many years. Mrs. DeChiara had many passions in life including dancing; and loved everything in nature: flowers, gardening, birds and the ocean. As a child, she spent summers on the Hampton, NY, beaches and as her family grew she and Mr. DeChiara brought their family there. Nature photography was an important pastime for Mrs. DeChiara. With a great love for flowers, she made flower arrangements which she brought to craft shows. A devout Roman Catholic, she was devoted to the Blessed Mother. She was a supporter of various Catholic charities and disabled veteran organizations. Mrs. DeChiara is survived by her three daughters, Laura DeChiara and her wife, Mary Dixon (Valley Cottage, NY); Christina Wolodkowicz and her husband, Robert Wolodkowicz, and their son and her grandson, Alexander Wolodkowicz (Blauvelt, NY); Diana DeChiara who was preceded in death by her husband, Dwayne Liddell (Coral Springs, FL); and her sister, Helene Kealler (Deland, FL). Mrs. DeChiara was a loving wife and mother who will be dearly missed. Michael J. An Interment at Rockland Cemetery.., 201 Kings Hwy, Sparkill, NY 10976.
